What is High TG in PCB material?

"High TG in PCB material refers to the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of the material, which indicates the temperature at which the rigid polymer transitions from a glass-like state to a softer state, making it susceptible to warping or other physical flaws.

In our PCB Design Files, if you do not specify a minimum Tg or High TG requirement for your boards, we will default to using Tg 140 FR4 material, suitable for reflow soldering and standard operating conditions. However, we also offer higher Tg materials such as Tg 170 FR4 and IT180A with a Tg of 180 for your convenience. Rest assured that regardless of the chosen material, our Standard PCB Options will accommodate high-Tg boards without requiring design modifications.

Common applications for High TG PCB materials include consumer electronics like smartphones, tablets, and laptops where elevated temperatures may be encountered during normal operation or charging.

Automotive electronics rely on high-TG PCBs to ensure reliability in high-temperature environments found in modern vehicles' engine control units (ECUs), infotainment systems, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
